A Joanie Love Affair - Miriam In Green

Oh Joanie, Joanie, Joanie, How I love thee. You never fail to make me feel fabulous, this time with the occasion-ready Miriam Lace Dress.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Miriam Dress - Joanie Clothing
First of all, THAT COLOUR! Miriam comes in Dusk Blue and Pepper Green and, frankly, I'd have been over the moon with either. They're part of that muted colourway which includes dusky pink and I honestly think it's become my preferred way to wear colour. The nude lining shows up the delicate lace beautifully and the eyelash edging which has become somewhat of a Joanie trademark adds that high-end feel which isn't matched by the incredible £45 price tag.

As for style - This isn't a shape I usually go for but I actually really enjoy the way the skirt flares from just under the bust rather than at my waist (Empire line innit) - I wasn't sure that it would work on me but with the length and fullness of the skirt itself, I feel the proportions are pretty much A*.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Miriam isn't actually an off the shoulder dress if you look on the site BUT it sits so nicely this way I just couldn't help myself. With my animal print sandals and a today's glorious sunshine I felt like a carefree nymph, floating about the streets of South Yorkshire. I felt less floaty after three Yorkshire puddings and half a bottle of pinot but I still looked nice so there is that.

My only ever criticism of Joanie (EVER!) was that I felt their sizing was off - DISREGARD THIS, I'm wearing an 18 here and really feel I could have sized down which means I can now confidently say: We are in the True To Size realm. Also, please remember that were something looks shorter on me than on the model, it is because I am a bit very tall.

The Joanie site is stocked with some absolutely stunning Summer dresses at the moment - Think Sophia Loren on the Amalfi Coast. WHAT A DREAM!

Summer Holiday Swimwear - Joanie Clothing

The tan has faded, the hangover has ended and this is the last in my Summer Holiday Swimwear Series *sniff* BUT AT LEAST I'M GOING OUT ON A CORKER!

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Ariel Bikini - Joanie Clothing
When Joanie Clothing told me that they would be launching a swimwear collection, I was VERY excited - I knew that their fun yet classic retro style would lend itself perfectly to Hollywood poolside glamour. Boy was I right. For crying out loud, JUST LOOK AT THE PRINT ON THIS BIKINI - It's utterly stunning. If bikinis aren't your style, the tropical coral leaf pattern is also available in a longline swimsuit which is equally as glam.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This set is an 18 - I could have sized down easily on the high waisted briefs but the top definitely needed to be bigger in order to facilitate the ol' wangers - This is another top which isn't really suitable for jiggling about in, I mean, there's no wire so it should be no surprise that the support is limited. However, this also means it's INCREDIBLY comfortable. If you're after looking mega hot whilst reclining (when am I not) the high waisted brief cut and keyhole tie back top detail is perfect. Plus, at only £25 for high quality repro swimwear, you genuinely cannot go wrong.

I've got a lot going on inside my big old head this week, which usually means that it's time for another Five Minutes... post. After that, I'm going to share some of the beautiful dresses I wore on my holidays, you know to get some mental equilibrium back into the world.

A Plus Size Bridesmaid - Part 2: Joanie Clothing

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

How fortuitous for the Plus Size Bridesmaid series that one of my absolute favouritest of all of the brands in the whole entire world should choose this year to launch a wedding shop. Not only this, but they asked whether a fabulous, not to mention GORGEOUS, group of bloggers (and me) would be willing to join them for a photoshoot to launch the range. This means that not only can I show you the dresses but I can actually tell you in a bit more detail how they fit, feel and move which is the whole entire point of fashion blogging and therefore means I am providing you with the top notch fabulous service you have always hoped for from me.

The Dresses:
You'll see from the pictures, the dresses seem to fit into two clear aesthetics. The first is romantic and ethereal, with rose gold highlights, floaty chiffon and satin bows. For me, this is the more traditional bridesmaid dress, albeit with a modern twist via a stunning colour-way which makes it accessible to bridemaids of all skin tones. Pastels with the added bonus of an extremely versatile navy blue. All at a length to suit all heights.

The other highlight of this look is the embellished capelet in two colour-ways. I'm a big fan of the old cleavage but also like the option to tone it down a little (You know, so I don't burst into flames on entering a church) and this addition allows a small yet beautiful  amount of coverage without taking away from the line of the dress.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

The next theme screams vintage glamour, vibrant reds with structured skirts, eyelash lace and Bardot necklines. These dresses change the mood from sweetness and light to snogging the best man and doing the worm on the dance floor. I LOVE THEM. Plus, these dresses bring in the options of sleeves which is something so utterly rare in bridesmaid world.

As someone who had never considered red as a bridesmaid colour; Just look how fabulous the pictures look, the bride (Sade - Not only is she bloody gorgeous but she is super mega intelligent and one of the nicest most considerate people I've met - It was an honour to be her maid of honour and I hope she doesn't mind that I'm going to gatecrash her real wedding at some point and resume the role...) is still the centre of attention (In a Joanie dress no less) but the pop of colour creates such a vivacious and fun look.

The Sizing:
All dresses above currently go from an 8 - 22. If you are busty, I would suggest sizing up where possible. The midi lengths are ideal on most heights - Models on the day varied from 5"2 - 6".

The Prices:
The dresses above range from £22.50 - £55 for fully embellished. This means you could dress four bridesmaids for under £100. ISN'T THAT RIDICULOUS?!?

Availability :
The Joanie Wedding Shop is online so you can have a good old browse together no matter how far apart your bridesmaids are HERE.

Summary:
This is an incredibly considerate range that was an absolute delight to wear. At no point was I uncomfortable, all of my body parts fit into the relevant areas. The price range is frankly phenomenal for what you're receiving and with Joanie also selling petticoats, stockings and shrugs; You can buy everything you need for the big day, all from the same place.

I can truly say that I had an absolutely wonderful day with some of the best people I know, please be sure to check out their blogs/websites and if you're considering the big day yourself I can wholeheartedly recommend every single person involved in the making of this shoot. Thank you Joanie! x

Stupid Cupid - A Joanie Valentine

With their romantic vintage prints and styles, Joanie Clothing seem to be just like me in that they were positively made for Valentines Day. Alright, so I only go to Morrisons for sausage, chips and beans (minus the beans), it's still nice to know that every year, there is a day put aside purely for getting mushy - whether this be with your partner, your friends or family (My Dad has sent me a card every single year as far back as I can remember which means more than any others) I'm all for the hearts, kisses and declarations of love.

As someone who isn't big on accessories  it's somewhat controversial that I start a post by singing the virtues of a handbag BUT LOOK AT THIS BAG. Isn't it just sublime?!? I managed to fit all of my usual handbag things (Purse, phone, makeup, keys, crisps, hair brush, 7,000 receipts, wet wipes) and still fit a jumper in there too. It's a novelty bag without being too OTT, to the extent that even I can pull it off.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Joanie are the Queens of jumpers, from Maybe Baby to Brunch Club; fashionistas across the country are going wild for the kitsch colours and sweet slogans. The Stupid Cupid jumper is no different and I think you will concur, incredibly apt for this time of the year. The fabric is lovely and soft and the chain stitch embroidery is such high quality. I'm wearing a Large here which is a 16-18, be aware that the jumpers aren't very long so I don't tend to wear them by themselves but they're the perfect length for layering over a shirt, or in this case, a pussy bow dress - the cropped sleeves make it ideal to show off a bit of cuff.

I'm off to see the ladies at Joanie this week, so keep your eyes peeled on my Twitter and Instagram for some sneak peaks!

A Fine Romance - The Joanie Valentina Dress

Guys, there are only 36 days until Valentines Day. This means only 36 days until Morrisons, sausages, chips, sachets of ketchup and a formica table with my beloved. As such, I'd like to take this opportunity to show you one of Joanie Clothing's romantic new frocks: The Valentina.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Valentina Dress - Joanie Clothing
Isn't it lovely? It's giving me serious garden party vibes, despite the impending snow in my part of the world... If you look closely at the print, you'll see some lovely little chickens, because there is nothing more romantic than chickens. In all seriousness though, aren't the print and colourway stunning? Coupled with the full skirt and bow detailing to the waist, it's an incredibly sweet dress without being cutesy.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I think I'm wearing a 16 here but I can't guarantee it as my inclination is to size up x1 with fitted items at Joanie. I can, however, tell you that there is no stretch with the Valentina but there IS a zip at the back and the sleeves are proportional to the size - PRAISE BE.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I can't wait to see more of what Joanie have to come this year - What I've already seen is stunning, and with models like Sade and Harriet it's impossible not to be besotted <3

IT'S CHRISTMAS with Joanie clothing

I've been desperate to share this Joanie Clothing dress with you all but a bit like with Christmas decorations, I didn't want to share it too soon and for it to lose any sparkle!

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Odette Cocktail Dress - Joanie Clothing
Shoes - New Look (Old)
As you may know, I was extremely lucky earlier this year in that I modeled some of the Christmas range for Joanie, meaning that I not only got a sneak peak but also got to wear it.  Which is where I fell for the Odette...

The epitome of 1950s cocktail dress fom the scalloped neckline to the full skirt, this dress is an item which I am genuinely excited to have in my wardrobe. Just look at that print (CAN YOU TELL I'M IN LOVE?)
www.terribletumbles,co.uk
Bag - Vintage Gift
There is also an utterly stunning cocktail skirt in the Cocktail print (The Noelle) which I am the proud owner of and have already worn on three separate occasions - It really is gorgeous. With both the dress and the skirt, the volume comes from the cut - This means that there is no need for an underskirt to achieve the beautiful 50's silhouette which brings me such joy.

As with most of the fitted items from Joanie, I have sized up half a size with the Odette meaning that this dress is an 18. There is plenty of room around the bust and hips and it sits beautifully close around the waist.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I honestly could not ask for a more beautiful dress for the festive season, it is total perfection. For me, Joanie Clothing have been instrumental in brightening up what has otherwise been a pretty grim year and I'm hugely enjoying seeing them go from strength to strength. If you like brands who care about style, elegance and most importantly their customers; Joanie clothing are the guys for you.

Christina Forever - The Joanie Clothing Hendricks Pencil Dress

Every now and then you find a dress that puts a huge smile on your face and a little wiggle in your tummy. This is that dress.

www.theemedit.co.uk
Hendricks Pencil Dress* - Joanie Clothing
Shoes - Faith (Similar)
Lipstick - Mac "Lady Danger"
Earlier this year, a new brand called Joanie Clothing contacted me wondering if I'd be interested in linking up for some model type stuff prior to their launch. On perusing their Instagram, I immediately fell for their nostalgic aesthetic, plus the fact that most of their items range between sizes 8-22, which is rare and pleasing for a new brand, so OF COURSE I said yes.

Well Joanie have finally launched and in celebration have sent me the utterly glorious Hendricks Pencil Dress* to show off. Avid readers of the blog(Hi Mum) will know that I adore Christina Hendricks, so I think we all know how I feel about this look.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Firstly, this dress is the perfect green; bright, eye catching but still classy. It fits me like a second skin and sits at the perfect midi length (I'm 6ft if you didn't already know!) The jacquard texture of the Hendricks gives it a bit of added pizzazz and adds to the early 60s feel of the dress. In terms of actually getting the dress on, there's a zip at the back and a tie at the neck but saying this, I have had no issue pulling the dress on over my head thanks to the stretch fabric.

I'm wearing an 18 here and as you can see, it fits like a glove. I think this could be a winning item if you are large busted as the stretch really is excellent. A word of advice though if you are a plus size lady: Size up, particularly if you are on the cusp.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I feel fierce, strong and utterly beautiful in this dress. Like genuinely beautiful, invincibly so. I can't help but think that it was made for me, I can just imagine slinking up to a fancy hotel bar for an elegant glass of wine and maybe some posh crisps. It's actually more likely that I'm going to wear it down the pub but one can dream.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

A piece of excelleng news here - The Hendricks dress is £35. That is it. There's also 10% off your first Joanie order when you sign up to their mailing list so you could have this dress on your body for £31.50. It's unfathomably good.

Finally, if you slide on over to the Joanie website, you may see a face you recognise (IT'S ME) in amongst the beautiful clothes. No need to thank me for the recommendation - Just make sure you tag me in any pictures!
