Food & Drink | Lux Looks with Lindybop and Maltesers Luxury Chocolates

You may have seen on instagram last week that I was sent a box of the delicious new luxury chocolates by Maltesers. To mark this launch, the fabulous team at Lindybop have designed a limited edition version of their bestselling Lily Swing Dress in a vibrant red polka dot and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one! (Queue the dancing lady emoji...)

A Retro Autumn with Yours Clothing

You all know I love a good year round retro look and this Autumnal outfit of bell sleeved mini dress and over the knee boots is currently rocking my world.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Khaki Swing Dress* - Yours Clothing
Dogtooth Blanket Scarf* - Yours Clothing
Over the knee boots - Primark
The ladder detailing at the front of this Yours Clothing Swing Dress give it the feel of a dress much more expensive than its £26. It may be mini but as long as I don't stand in any wind tunnels my dignity will remain in tact. I'm wearing an 18 here but could have probably sized down to a 16, I just wasn't sure about that waistline -Turns out it's less skater cut and more swing which makes it nice and loose. The sleeves are also very true to size SO I'd recommend that if you're into this frock, go for your own size or the lower if you're between.  Coupled with an extremely versatile (and delightfully big!) monochrome Dogtooth scarf I'm feeling very mod chick.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

So I did it, I bought some over the knee boots. You may have noticed from this here blog that you read, I have long legs, looooooooong legs. I also have a pair of legs which are smack bang in the middle of regular and wide. This means that OTKs have always been well off my radar despite loving them deep down in my heart. Enter Primark with this utterly bloody perfect pair of size 8, block heel, pull up pair of dream boots. They fit me perfectly both in length and width, are comfortable and were only £20: WINNER!

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I love, love, LOVE this look. The 60s aesthetic is everything to me and Autumn is the perfect time to showcase it. It's likely that I'll put a pair of tights on with this from this day forward because BOY IS IT COLD but with a long woolen coat and my bobble hat I can see this being a key outfit for 2016.

I'd just like to thank my wonderful sister Tomato for taking these pictures - She's got MAD skillz.

Style | Christina Forever - The Joanie Clothing Hendricks Pencil Dress

Every now and then you find a dress that puts a huge smile on your face and a little wiggle in your tummy. This is that dress.

A Plus Size 70s Dream - The Navabi Faux Suede Midi Skirt

Have you ever tried something on and not been able to think about anything else since...? Well this Faux Suede Midi Skirt from Navabi was just that for me.

Faux Suede Skirt* - Manon Baptiste at Navabi
Black Body Suit - New Look Plus
Tan Sandals - Topshop (Similar here)
Rose Gold Shopper - Primark
Tassel Earrings - H&M
Cagney and Lacey eat your hearts out - This is so my aesthetic it is RIDICULOUS. I first tried this skirt at an utterly wonderful night with Navabi and my heart was lost until the moment their glorious team offered to send me one (If I could do emojis there would be roughly 75 hearts here). The skirt is a true button up from bottom to top, is incredibly soft like a bunny and guys: Pockets. Big pockets.

The length is spot on for me, it sits perfectly mid-calf, meaning it looks fab with both heeled sandals and blocked ankle boots. I'm positively DESPERATE for a pair of burgundy clogs to wear with this and my maroon cowl neck jumper, the more I think about it, the more it inspires my Autumn wardrobe.

This is a 16 and it fits absolutely perfectly, which makes me think it may be a generous fit across the stomach. I'm generally quite nervous with anything that buttons up due to the potential for gaping but the cut of this skirt means that it hangs perfectly and I didn't flash anyone, not one bit.

The plan was to style the skirt with a bell sleeved 70s size blouse but I love how it looks with a plain black body suit SO MUCH I just had to share it - Sometimes you need to let the statement piece do the talking, right? This body suit is a New Look Plus/Curve/ Inspire/Whatever they are right now and I have three of them because they fit incredibly well and I don't want to risk being without. The sandals are my old faithful Topshop ones and the earrings are some little beauties from H&M which go with utterly everything.

Navabi are absolutely owning it right now, the Manon Baptiste range alone blows my mind - I would happily wear any/all off it and be chicest damn woman that ever there was. Please don't just take my word for it - They have 20% off their five biggest brands right now so it's the perfect time to give them a go!

Style | A Saucy LBD - Lindybop Kelsey Wiggle Dress

I told you I had an LBD coming up and WHAT an LBD it is!
I first saw this dress on the babeliest pink haired goddess I have ever seen, on a night out in Manchester. She was wearing it with a pair of chunky sandals: The perfect combination of classy & cool and I was smitten. Once I realised I couldn't have the girl, I set my heart on the dress.

Plus Size Prints with Dorothy Perkins

Hi, this look is basically me through and through and I love it so please do enjoy this quick post which I have created in its honour.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Floral Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Tights - Evans
Ankle Boots - New Look (Similar Here
I picked this dress up at Dorothy Perkins to wear for my birthday but was in such a stroppy mood that I got not a single picture (I don't do birthdays well to be quite honest and my face is basically like Ludo's from Labyrinth when he is upside down) So I decided to re-wear it on a much less grumpy occasion.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

The things I love about this dress in no particular order:
> The retro floral print
> The length (Mini but no knickers)
> The frills
> The longer sleeves
> The fact that it makes my boobs look ace.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This is an 18 and I'll be honest, there's not much room across the back and in the arms if you're a lady of the broad persuasion, as I am. Saying this, the fit everywhere else is utterly spot on and the cut means that there is minimal body hugging which is occasionally nice in a world of bodycon.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

The dress is in the sale at £24.50 right now (Albeit only in a 6,10 and 14 BOOOOO!) so if it tickles your pickle get yourself down there and do a buy at it!

The Plus Size Pinafore with Yours Clothing

I've got that Sunday feeling and it ain't good, it's been a lovely weekend but they're never quite long enough are they?
Luckily I get to start the week with a new and rather wonderful acquisition in the form of this perfect Yours Clothing Pinafore Dress*.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Black Ponte Skater Pinafore* - Yours Clothing
Shirt - Vintage
Ankle Boots - New Look (Similar here)
Suede Look Fringed Handbag* - Yours Clothing
I was recommended the dress by the lovely Jacqs at Yours and all I can say is: Yours have utterly nailed it. I've mentioned in the past that I generally avoid the skater shape but for some reason, this really works for me. The length is spot on and there are pockets. Ten out of ten. This dress is just so easy to wear - Whether it be with a Tee, vintage shirt or roll neck; It's effortless.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I wore the pinafore with one of my vintage shirts. This one was from the same place as the blue dress I bought last week. It's really unique in that it's longline with split sides - The only issue I have with it is that it's roughly two sizes too small for me, meaning I can only wear it under things. Otherwise you can see my tummy button.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Suede Look Fringed Handbag* - Yours Clothing
I'm a fan of fringed bags but have never been able to use one without feeling extremely conspicuous. Like I'm going to get it caught in a lift door or dip it in my dinner. This Suede look fringed number from Yours Clothing is ideal, practical (yeah I said that) yet still very "On trend" as people in the know say.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

After saying how few clothes I've bought of late, I substantially extended my vintage wardrobe this weekend thanks to a kilo sale, so there will be some extremely gaudy prints and hues gracing the pages of this blog very soon...

60s Stripes with Simply Be

Hello Everybody, if you are anything like me you'll be pretty much inside 24/7 at the moment due to the grim weather and left over festive austerity. I cant remember what the outside smells like, or how it feels to be around living things that aren't equally as miserable cats. All of this is basically me justifying why I am wearing no shoes in these pictures. Sorry. You're just lucky I've brushed my hair...

www.terribletumbles,co,uk
Striped Bell Sleeve dress - Simply Be
I've not invested in my wardrobe too much new of late, mainly because of the hibernation but that hasn't stopped me from online window shopping which is where I saw this fabulous Simply Be frock. I've got to be honest, I was initially unsure about parting with my cold hard cash, basically because i didn't think it would cover my arse but COVER MY ARSE IT DOES. In fact, it's a really good tall girl length - Mini but not obscene.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

A few people have commented on their sleeve dislike of this dress which i think is crackers because these sleeves are quite frankly the bomb. I'm also a big fan of the A Line shape which sits just under the bust on me (unlike on the model online, I must have long boobs), it gives a great shape without feeling too clingy and gives a fab 60s shape. I really seem to going back to my Plus Size retro roots at the moment don't I?

www.terribletumbles,co.uk

Have a fab weekend everyone - I'm going to the countryside to freeze my arse off!
I'll be back next week with shoes on. I may even be outside. HURRAH!

Love Yourself - A Very Vintage Valentine.

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!

I just wanted to call in and wish you a wonderful day of hearts and cheap chocolate, as well as slipping in a couple of pictures of my one true love; Clothes.

www.terribletumbles,co.uk
Vintage Roll Neck Sweater Dress - No 87 Dove House Hospice Shop, Hull
Pointed Ankle Boots - New Look
To show myself how much I love me on this magical day, I got dressed up all nice in my new vintage dress and let my Mum take pictures of me whilst i pranced about in the garden, because nothing says self love like a touch of frostbite and a chest infection...

www.terribletumbles,co.uk

I couldn't speak higher of No 87 in Hull - It's a Dove House Hospice shop which is curated so beautifully that I've never left empty handed. This particular visit brought two new/old dresses into my life and I could have quite happily left with more, especially as this one only set me back £10. The other wonderful thing about this shop is that it adjoins the original charity shop, meaning that nothing goes to waste - None of that overpriced second hand as vintage nonsense.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

On this Valentines day, I would like leave you with the reminder that the most important person to love today is yourself.
And Liam Hemsworth...
But mostly yourself.

60s Vibes with Hairspray the Musical

Think that only Twiggy looked good in swing dresses? WELL YOU’RE WRONG, Plus size babes have been making trends look good long before the likes of Melissa McCarthy and Amber Riley were gracing our screens.

The 60s broke fashion rules – Hem lines got higher, eyelashes got longer and musicians became the icons of the time.  Luckily for us, you can grab a bit of inspiration from the best of the 60s trends for your Autumn/Winter 15 wardrobe:

Bold Patterns – The 60s were all about floral prints and clashing colours. Forget the antiquated “fashion rules”, bold patterns work on EVERYONE. If you’re not quite ready for a maxi dress, start with a fancy pussy-bow blouse or Biba style neck scarf.

  • High Neck collars –A high neck is so classic yet so chic. Scour the vintage shops for an authentic look or head to the high street for a huge selection of dresses and tunics with this feature. Ramp up the eyeliner and backcomb your hair for a Brigitte Bardot look that simply can’t fail.

Knee boots – So many plus-size brands are now making knee boots with a wider calf, this opens up a world of possibilities; Suede A-line skirts over bold tights, a peek of a chunky heel under flares and, for the confident amongst us, Hot pants under a faux fur gillet – Why not? If it’s good for Elizabeth Taylor, it’s good for me!

My top tips:
  • Second hand and vintage shops are your friend – Most vintage shops will now stock a full range of sizes (For example Mooch in Sheffield - They're ace) and if they haven't anything in for you ASK THEM; If they're a decent kind o' person they'll keep an eye on any new stock and let you know if anything suitable comes in.
  • Pinafores look gorgeous and are so versatile - You can wear them over roll necks, shirts or t-shirts and keep them as casual or dressed up as you want
  • I genuinely don't think the 60s have ever gone "out of fashion" BUT if you want to play it safe go for a classic shape with a 60s print or a 60s shape in a block colour.

Want to celebrate your new found love for all things 60s? Hairspray the Musical is currently touring the UK, if you've not seen Hairspray YOU HAVE GOT TO, as someone who doesn't "do" musicals I love this one which is testament to just how much fun it is. They've even given me a ticket to go and see it so if you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, expect to see much more!

Plus Sized Denim with Yours Clothing...

I've found a wall that I really like, it could do with a bit of a clean but I am definitely not heading out into the streets of Sheffield with a soapy brush when I barely even wash my own windows so I'm afraid you'll have to deal with it. If it helps at all, it's around the back of a Subways so it smells of sandwiches and sadness which may also explain why I was so drawn to it...

High waisted Jeans - Yours

Nelly Sandals - Topshop
Necklace - Vintage
I know that denim is ALWAYS in fashion but it genuinely seems to be going bonkers at the moment. These gorgeous Black Stretch High Waisted Jeans With Ripped Knees are how I'm wearing my denim this year. They're high waisted which is always a win for me and the rips are SO close to being on my knees (You know my thoughts on rips - I'm always a bit scared the bottom of the jeans is going to fall off and I'll end up looking like Huckleberry Finn...) You can also get these jeans in indigo and they go up to a size 28 - I'd say that these fit on the true to big side, I'm wearing a 16 but a 14 would have also been ace due to the stretch.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I wore the jeans with this lush sleeveless tunic which gives a nod to the 70s trend which Autumn is all about and which I am already stocking up on BECAUSE I CANNOT WAIT YO. Again, I'm wearing the 16 and it fits fabulously, if not a little snug around the ladies if ya catch my drift. I've worn it since without the belt and it looks ace with leggings and knee boots. If you're not the BFG then you could probably even wear it with tights. Without flashing your region. Unlike me.

The Nelly Sandals that i have worn to absolute death this Summer are currently in the sale in a size 8 for a bargain £30 and I really cant recommend them enough - Bigfeet of the world rejoice.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I wore this outfit for a jaunt around Sheffield which you will all get to know more about soon. Keep your peepers peeled and I can't wait to share - IT'S VERY EXCITING!!!

Return to Retro - F&F AW15

Whilst I was in London last week, I accompanied my beautiful friend Becky from Mrs Bebe Blog to the F&F Autumn Winter 15 event.

***Brief disclaimer here with regards to me attending this event, lucky doesn't cover it, if there was a less clichéd way of saying #blessed in caps, bold, size 72 I would be saying it right now.***

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

To put it in perspective, this is Paloma Faith, you may have heard of her. She's a bit amazing and she sang us two songs and I got tears in my eyes because this kind of stuff does not happen to me guys.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

The setting was stunning, I've never been to The Savoy before (Well why would I, I'm a peasant) and it is breathtaking (Was going to write something about how the toilets were bigger than my house but decided against it seeing as this is a pretty classy post innit) We were wined and dined beyond my wildest dreams, and FYI I had two different types of salmon sandwiches.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Then to the catwalk where, if my mind wasn't already blown, it certainly was by the end. Described as "a nostalgic wander back to the Seventies, blurring the line with late 1960's fashion styles", the F&F AW15 season is stupidly in line with my aesthetic.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Camel, rust, teal and mustard are basically the key colours of my existing wardrobe so finding out that I'm on trend is a great feeling.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Layering was key with so many of the looks,  patterns and colours were contrasted and I love the mix of textures: Chiffon with leather, suede with lightweight woolen roll necks. I'm a big fan of how the tailoring of the trousers above gives a masculine edge paired with brogues but would look equally as stylish with pointed courts.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I actually audibly gasped at the print of this blouse. Can you imagine it with a button up denim skirt and tan clogs...? Because I can and now I can't stop thinking about it... It's just so fun and vibrant.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Burgundy wool with brown leather just works so well, I'm not sure I could rock the bralett over roll neck vibe but I could certainly go for a leather mini and this faux fur accented coat is just so decadent i don't feel like I'll ever be fully dressed without it.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This geometric print dip hem tunic dress is exceptionally wearable and the way it had been styled with a roll neck jumper has got me craving Autumn SO HARD. I also fell hard for a stunning pussy bow tea dress in rusts and oranges, and a glorious shearling coat which seriously made me weak at the knees.

Now I want to say here, the venue was glorious and the clothes are just stunning so it was almost too easy to forget that F&F is a highstreet retailer. With a full length camel coat at £59 and chiffon pussybow blouses at £16, this is a range for both high end fashionistas and the likes of little old "which fork do I use for a macaroon" me alike.

I've honestly never been so excited about a range, the colours, patterns and pure versatility of it all makes me want to hibernate through Spring and Summer. I can't wait to get my mits on it, a number of limited edition pieces are already available online but keep checking back for more and expect to see me in a fair few of them!

Snazzy 70s with M&S

I'm 31 now so I'm wearing clothes that are grown up and understated. Oh no hang on I'm not because I'm not convinced I'll ever actually be a grown up and nobody really needs to be a grown up right?!? This paisley shirt dress is from the Marks and Spencer Limited Edition range and I am over the moon with it.

Paisley Print Shirt Dress:  Marks and Spencer Limited Edition
Coat: River Island (No longer available)
Boots: New Look (No longer available)

I've always been loyal to the Limited Edition range, it is generally super on trend and incredibly well made (Being M&S and all). The most recent launch is no different - If I was five inches shorter, I'd have happily spent my entire disposable income on it, sadly the dress below was the longest of the range and the only item that covered my gusset...

On the hanger the dress looked pretty shapeless and I thought it would be one of those dresses that you buy oversized and wear over leggings. HOWEVER, I tried it on in the 16 and it goes in perfectly at the waist, plus the hidden buttons mid way between the outside buttons (stick with me) stop me flashing any of my parts. This all means I can wear it over tights and feel thoroughly fabulous both dressed up and dressed down.

I'm wearing it here with a 2014 January sale find coat from River Island (Size 18 - It happens occasionally on the high street) and my New Look ankle boots which I desperately need to replace as they're entirely coming from together.

I'm going to leave you here with a picture of Catalina Winemixer the Bin kitten, she refuses to look at the camera because she's going through a "phase"... Also, she thinks the dress is a bit gaudy...What does she know, she lived in a bin...
