Style | Faux Fur Fabulous With River Island

Friends, I Have The Lurg.

Why am I telling you this you may wonder?
1. Maybe you care, I like it when people care. Thank you for caring.
2. If you follow me on social media then you'll have not seen much of me. Maybe this has been a good thing. Who knows. Anyway, live tweeting taking antibiotics or instagram grids full of duvets aren't much fun.
3. I'm very whiny. Deal with it.

Northern Lights - Plus Size Winter Warmers

January can be grim can't it? It plays havoc with the weather, the light and more annoyingly our moods. My new job means that I literally don't have a moment to think about anything except all of the long words I need to learn (HELP!), but I'm still longing for natural light, warmth and a bit of extra brightness to my days. Hence this scarf.

Coat - Marks & Spencer (Similar)
Scarf - River Island
Ankle Boots - Dorothy Perkins
bought the scarf just before Christmas in a "Treat yo'self" moment on a particularly bloody freezing cold Yorkshire day and have worn it constantly ever since. I honestly thought it was green but I have since realised that it is definitely yellow. VERY yellow. It's also the softest thing I own and the perfect addition to an otherwise quite gloomy outfit. It certainly seems the case that wearing something flamboyant (even just a scarf) can really up my mood.

Dress - Primark (Similar here and here
The dress is a really cheap one from Primark, bought last year and worn very occasionally - I'm not sure how I feel about the proportions of it. In the past I've lived in vintage look mini dresses and ankle boots but I think my style and body shape are evolving and this dress may become a top very soon. I just feel more put together with a longer dress or trousers AND I NEVER THOUGHT THIS DAY WOULD COME. ALSO, I don't like flashing my knickers as much any more - This must be what being an adult feels like...

The coat, however, is a different story. This is my work coat and I LOVE IT. The joy of having a coat that you can throw on over pretty much anything and still look smart is a feeling I can very much get along with. I bought this double breasted woollen coat at the end of 2015 in lieu of being able to find a camel coat that I felt strongly enough about, Marks and Spencer very much provided on the navy blue front (I've since bought a camel coat but it's not to be worn until my birthday - Yes I am just that skilled at depriving myself of joy).

I would like to thank lovely Violet for sharing a rather lovely afternoon with me in Hull (My hometown and the UK City Of Culture in 2017 "YORKSHIRE! YORKSHIRE! YORKSHIRE!") and taking these fabulous pictures - Violet has just been named as one of the Yours Clothing Bloggers so you'll be seeing a lot of her in 2017 and quite rightly too!

Windswept - Hayley Hasselhoff x Elvi Collection

I feel like plus size collections have come a long way in the last twelve months. With retailers like Navabi bringing classic fashion to our fingertips, I've personally been able to go from spending a fortune on fast fashion to investing in timeless, well-made pieces which will last me years, a fabulous example being these pieces from the Hayley Hasselhoff x Elvi collection.

Longline Knitted Coat - Hayley Hasselhoff x Elvi
High Neck Dress
- Hayley Hasselhoff x Elvi
Black Boots - Primark
I'd been eyeing up this for a VERY long time. What. A. Statement. Piece. I feel incredible when I'm wearing it, such effortless glamour. It is made from a thick white/navy herringbone knit and is fully lined (I know how much you guys like this).
A word to the wise - The coat is LONG, utterly perfect for me but if you're under 5"9 you may need to think about having it taken up unless you want to collect every single leaf, crisp packet and stray cat on your street.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This dress is simply perfect - I love a high neck and coupled with the tailoring and waist high splits, you have a dress which will work equally as well over leather look leggings and high heels for a night out as it would with wide legged trousers and sandals on holiday. I have to specify, I AM wearing underwear below, you just can't see it. I'm not in the habit of public indecency at public beauty spots.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I've actually met Hayley a few times in real life and can honestly say that she is one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. She literally glows. Not only this but she has clearly put a lot of thought into this range and I get the feeling that she would wear every single piece herself; describing the range as "Sophisticated, minimalistic, tailored and timeless" - I really couldn't think of a better way to put it.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I bought both items in the Elvi sale, meaning that the coat was just £59 and the dress £29, absolutely phenomenal for such high-end pieces.  The new Hayley Hasselhoff x Elvi collection is out later this year and it is STUNNING - the longline silhouettes and luxe fabrics are still there with the addition of mixed textures and incredibly versatile statement pieces - Keep your eyes peeled!

'Tis the season to be sultry with Live Unlimited

One of the things I struggle with in Winter is dressing for the weather when I'm going to be in and out of bars (Literally the whole of my Winter). Jumpers are too sweaty and shrugs are too...well..they're shrugs aren't they. That's why I was over the moon when Live Unlimited sent me this gorgeous plus size lace jacket.
Lace Jacket* - Live Unlimited
Jumpsuit - Yours Clothing (Similar)
Shoes - New Look (Similar)
Choker - ASOS
All of Live Unlimited's AW16 collection is dark, sultry and extremely elegant but this jacket is very much a standout piece for me. The quality is amazing, the lace is so delicate, running down into a scalloped edge at the bottom which would look incredible over a contrasting colour. The length is spot on and the herringbone detailing gives it a bit of an edge. This jacket is the perfect mix between delicate and rock-y and I'm really looking forward to finding other ways to style it.

It's rare that I wear an item which I like equally fastened up as I do open but the top fastening on this jacket is really sweet and gives you a little bit more coverage should you need or want it. I've styled it here with a simple black jumpsuit and a wide choker (I've gotten into chokers now that they're going back out of fashion, I'm so bloody contrary)

I'm wearing a 16 here and I would say that it is absolutely perfect to size - I wouldn't be able to wear anything too chunky under it but then I'm not sure that I'd ever want to. For me, simplicity is key with a statement item like this. If you're looking for a timeless, piece for the party season, I wholeheartedly recommend perusing the Live Unlimited website - There are sequins and beads a-plenty.

As you can see, I've been able to take advantage of some good lighting so I have a few posts for you this week, including a festive frock which gave me the opportunity to legitimately drink whilst I posed - WINNER.

Taking Floral into Autumn with Lovedrobe

I've heard of people who pack away their Summer wardrobe. Like they actually put everything they wear in the warmer months into suitcases and then get them out again the next year.
1.   Who is this organised?
2.   How do they have this much time?
3.   Why would you do this?

Aviator Jacket - River Island (Similar)
Most of my wardrobe is incredibly versatile in that I wear it all year round; Sometimes I put a roll neck under an item, sometimes I swap a skirt for a pair of skinny jeans. More often than not, I bang on a pair of tights, ankle boots and a big old coat to keep out the cold, just as I have with this Plus Size Shift dress from Lovedrobe.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This dress is already pretty seasonal in that it is knee length, fully lined and has a beautiful embroidery to the front and sleeves. I'm an eternal fan of navy blue but this particular dress is also available in maroon (As seen here on gorgeous Lucy) Size-wise, I opted to size up twice due to the generally small fit of Lovedrobe, actually an 18 would have been fine but I like the looser fit of it, particularly around the sleeves.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I've been pairing the dress with my River Island aviator jacket which I invested in after getting hold of a 25% discount in October and I LOVE IT. It's so warm and the over-sizing of it means that it sits in exactly the right place and isn't at all boxy. Plus I get to look like Del Boy - What more could one want from life? I've looked online and can't see it in stock other than in black but have definitely seen it still in store so if you're interested it may be worth having a look about.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I've also been wearing these Simply Be Ankle Boots* non-stop recently, they go with absolutely everything. If you fancy reading a bit more about them I've written the first of two Autumn guest posts for them over on the Simply Be blog - Why not have a read.

Winter all wrapped up with V by Very

Never one to shy away from a million layers and the premature adoption of cold weather seasonal wear, I present to you: The first coat of the year.

Oversized Drape Coat - V by Very
Black Roll Neck - Jette at Navabi
Chloe Jeans - Simply Be
Rose Gold Loafers - Yours Clothing
Very recently invited me celebrate the start of London Fashion Week and have a look at some of their new garms with the support of a great deal of fizz, it was a fab night and I saw a lot of faces that I have previously only seen on the TV. I sweated a lot. The TV people did not. There's a reason I'm not famous. Anyway, that's beside the point; The V by Very range has some very exciting pieces for Autumn/Winter 16 (this leopard print sequin tee for a start) Daisy Lowe was there in a sheer floral dress which absolutely rocked my world, however, knowing that the weather was on the turn, I was most taken by this fab Oversized coat.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I'm a big fan of a waterfall front, it's so easy to wear and there's plenty of extra fabric to cuddle up in. For those of you who worry about the itch - The coat is fully lined and not a tickle is to be had. I'm actually wearing a 14 here which fits perfectly due to the fact that the coat is oversized. I am not a size 14. It is not 1998. The drape coat is available up to a size 24 and in Navy if oatmeal ain't your bag.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I'm  wearing the coat over a seasonal staple, the black roll neck jumper. This particular jumper is from Jette at Navabi and is definitely amongst the more luxury jersey basics I own, albeit at an excellent price. The jeans are a very old pair of Chloe skinny jeans from Simply Be which I wear rolled up at the bottom in order to look cool. I've also finally managed to find a pair of loafers which I can wear casually without feeling like Simon Le Bon in the 1980s, the Rose Gold Loafers are from Yours Clothing and very true to size (I'm wearing a 9).

I get the feeling that this will be first of many coat posts this year because I JUST LOVE A COAT ALRIGHT?

A Winning Roll Neck with Yours Clothing

The sun has arrived!!!! IT IS HERE. I celebrated by nearly breaking my neck cleaning out the shed which is beyond structurally unsound and trying to revive a very unloved lawn with some pound shop grass feed purely so that it would look nicer under my new sun lounger which I don't intend to move from for the next month. So that's what I've been doing, hope your life has been moderately more exciting.

Earrings - VERY old (Similar HERE)
I have to tell you about this jacket - This is so outside of my usual style but just fabulous. I chose it because I needed a light coloured jacket for when I don't want to be too goth of an evening. Also I wanted to look like Dolly Parton BECAUSE WHO DOESN'T?!? I'm not going to lie, the tassels are moderately flamboyant for me but I love the look on my husband's face whenever I wear it - Part horror and part extreme jealousy. A must for all relationships.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This dress is going to be the saviour of my Summer. The ribbed material hangs beautifully - I've worn it today with my flipflops and sunglasses and it's incredible in the heat; Really light and genuinely easy to wear. This is a 16 and it is extremely roomy which works well for me with regards to my hips that do not lie and butt that will not quit. I know the website says maxi but maxi rarely IS maxi for me - This said, I love the length on me and the side splits make it that extra bit slinky, perfect for day into evening.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

You may recall seeing some very similar shoes on my feet last year but these ones are in fact brand new, size 9 and at £23.20 an absolute steal. Friends, these sandals are SO comfortable, I just can't get over how active I can be in them whilst still looking all 70s and chic. I know I say this often but Yours really are so on the money right now - I'm going to get so much wear out of this outfit it's RIDICULOUS, plus I have another Yours look coming up very soon, involving GOLD SHOES (I shit you not) so stay tuned
