Style | Danielle Vanier x Navabi

[This post contains gifted items]

One of the greatest things about blogging and social media-ing is that I’ve met some incredible women; Women with vision, talent and the drive to make things happen.

I’m sure you’ll all agree that Danie Vanier is one of these women.

We all have our own styles and “fashion” is incredibly subjective but one thing I can tell you is that for as long as I’ve known about plus size style, I’ve been a big fan of Danie.

Style | Best Dressed Guest with Navabi

You all know I love Navabi, so when they got in touch and asked if I'd like to join in bringing the gang back together, I didn't have to think twice!!

Style | Suit Up With Navabi

I've sung the praises of Manon Baptiste at Navabi many a time on this here blog. With beautiful fabrics, timeless designs and quality through and through, they've long since been my go-to for workwear and occasions where only the best will do.

Five Minutes on Feminism + Fashion

Feminism in fashion is "having a moment" as they say and high street store Peacocks have sasheyed in with their fab The Future Is Female t-shirt, which you may have seen gracing the body of celebrities and bloggers aplenty. It's a beaut tshirt - Lovely soft cotton, great fit and most importantly, a message we can all get behind.

Bright As A Button - Arched Eyebrow x Navabi

This is a really special blog post, in that it's not every day I get to show off an item designed by one of my very special pals. Today is that day.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Belted Shirt Dress - Arched Eyebrow x Navabi
Leopard Courts - Simply Be (Similar
When Navabi announced that they would be hooking up with plus size influencers to create three capsule wardrobes, we all knew that something special was afoot. Just imagine the excitement when they then announced that one of those influencers was the frankly incredible Bethany Rutter of Arched Eyebrow. Now Bethany is probably one of the most talented people I know so it stands to reason that she be able to design banging clothes, though I don't think anyone could have imagined just how stunning this range was going to be. Arched Eyebrow x Navabi is a riot of block colours, utilising classic tailoring and modern sillhouettes to give us a range so rarely seen in plus size ranges.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

The obvious thing that drew me to the belted dress was the colour - It is the most perfect green. Bright but not fluorescent, block but not boring. The next eye-catcher was the button shape - The most fabulous 80s detailing, glossy black triangles which, remarkably, actually make them really easy to fasten - Who'da thunk it?!? Then the mega long, mega wide belt which is stitched in at the seams so it won't fall off or move about and is just the one of the best fashion design features in the world in my opinion - You are always pulling the dress in at the right place meaning that the buttons don't pull and the seams sit in exactly the right place.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
I'm wearing a 16 here and the fit is PERFECT. There's plenty of room around the bust and the straight cut shape means that you can pull it in as tight or loose as you like with with the belt. The length is spot on for me, just below the knee, meaning I can wear it to work with courts or ankle boots and still look like a business bitch. I genuinely cannot see this dress being off my body when Winter sets in. The long (incredibly well made in terms of movement!) sleeves and thick fabric make it a wardrobe staple for the colder months and for this reason, and this reason alone, I cannot wait for them to start. .

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

There are so many other pieces of this range I'd love to get on my body, not least the incredible blue wool mix coat. I feel like this dress was made for me and reckon everyone who wears one of the Arched Eyebrow x Navabi items will feel the same way - There has been so much thought put into this range and it really shows. Bethany you have absolutely smashed it and I hope we get to see more...

Summer Casual With Navabi

I recently asked people on my Instagram page what they would like to see more of on this blog. In and amongst the "boobies", "bottoms" and "NOTHING" came the resounding answer of Plus size casual wear. Now I've never really seen myself as anything other than casual - Certainly not glam, but this got me thinking about what I really wear, particularly on those days when I'm just loitering about not doing much of anything. SO, with this in mind, here is my ultimate in Summer casual looks.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Shirt* - Marina Rinaldi Sport @ Navabi
Straight Leg Jeans - Evans
Wrap Detail Sandals - Simply Be
Tote Bag - Mango
Sunglasses - MONKI
A couple of months ago I fell in love with this printed shirt from Marina Rinaldi Sport. I watched the Navabi website like an absolute hawk for months on end to no avail. THEN THERE IT WAS. Except I had missed it and my size had been and gone. WELL DONE ME. But all was not lost! The incredible team at Navabi did some magical detective work and the next thing I know, the shirt was all mine.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

The shirt also comes in a navy but I'm a total sucker for green as you know. I'm well into the retro feel to the abstract heart print and the contrasting blue stripe detail at the edges, I've never had such a snazzy shirt. The side splits make it easy to wear either tucked in or loose meaning that so far, I've been able to wear it under a pinafore for work as well as with both black and blue jeans - It's a proper versatile high end item. As for sizing, this is the 18, a 16 would also have fit but the 18 is lovely and loose and looks SO flipping good tucked into jeans with the sleeves rolled up - Perfect for the warm weather we're having right now.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Tan accessories are my go-to all year round. Every time I try another colour or shade of brown, I'm like NAH NOT FOR ME THANKS. This Mango tote is a bit of a lifesaver right now in that I am epically disorganised and this bag is vast enough for me to empty all of my various other bags into. This means that it's currently 95% full of garbage but at least I haven't left my purse at home for at least three weeks... The sandals are Simply Be, size 9 and remarkably comfortable meaning that I will still happily class them as casual shoes despite the heels.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

As casual looks go, this is one I love. It's cool, light, versatile but still just dressy enough to stop me breaking out in a rash....

Jumping into Spring with Navabi

It's that time of the year where we start to see brands' Spring/Summer ranges hit the streets and I'm FULLY ready to embrace them. Top of the Pops (Remember Top of the Pops?) for 2017 have got to be yours and my favourite premium plus-size retailers Navabi. Think floaty florals and chic tailoring mixed with fabulous colour pops of Summer brights. it's genuinely a pleasure to behold.

Jumpsuit - Manon Baptiste at Navabi
Bag - Simply Be (Similar)
Shoes - Topshop (Similar)
Sunglasses - MONKI
When I saw this jumpsuit I audibly gasped and can only assume that my eyes turned into love hearts.  As a sailor girl at heart (Fake News; The biggest sea-faring vessel I've ever controlled was a pedalo) the deep navy blue, gold buttons and flared leg spoke to me on a whole new level. The chiffon split-sleeves soften the look and keep the jumpsuit from being too tailored for a warmer day, while the zip back means you can zip in even the most voluptuous of bosoms/stomachs/thighs.

The only part of the look I was initially dubious about was the cropped length. I have a strange relationship with my lower legs in that they anger me because no matter how tanned I may get, they remain the same colour as something that has never seen sun. My ass potentially. This said, think they fall to the perfect length - It's the length I'd wear a dress to so why not trousers...?

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

In the SS17 lookbook, the jumpsuit is styled with red shoes, red lips and a black clutch and it is just the most effortlessly chic outfit I have ever seen. Genuinely. I've played it mega safe here with tan accessories and my new MONKI sunglasses to prove that cropped jumpsuits don't have to be dressy. I can see it looking equally as magnificent with some flat clogs or even ankle boots (in fact I'm going to check this out tonight)

Now the sizing with this jumpsuit is a bit odd. I'm currently a 16-18 and went for a size 18 with it being a fitted item. It's FAR too big on me. Like two sizes too big. I've just ordered a 14 in the hope that it will fit better because I genuinely need this jumpsuit for my Summer wardrobe and I'll feed back on how much better the fit is. Until then, my recommendation would be; SIZE DOWN.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I'm thoroughly delighted to be back out in the sun again and am doing my upmost to absorb some of those vitamins that stop you from feeling like a human slug, so fingers crossed I'll be less Casper and more sun kissed and energy-filled by the next time I post. WATCH THIS SPACE.

A Plus Size 70s Dream - The Navabi Faux Suede Midi Skirt

Have you ever tried something on and not been able to think about anything else since...? Well this Faux Suede Midi Skirt from Navabi was just that for me.

Faux Suede Skirt* - Manon Baptiste at Navabi
Black Body Suit - New Look Plus
Tan Sandals - Topshop (Similar here)
Rose Gold Shopper - Primark
Tassel Earrings - H&M
Cagney and Lacey eat your hearts out - This is so my aesthetic it is RIDICULOUS. I first tried this skirt at an utterly wonderful night with Navabi and my heart was lost until the moment their glorious team offered to send me one (If I could do emojis there would be roughly 75 hearts here). The skirt is a true button up from bottom to top, is incredibly soft like a bunny and guys: Pockets. Big pockets.

The length is spot on for me, it sits perfectly mid-calf, meaning it looks fab with both heeled sandals and blocked ankle boots. I'm positively DESPERATE for a pair of burgundy clogs to wear with this and my maroon cowl neck jumper, the more I think about it, the more it inspires my Autumn wardrobe.

This is a 16 and it fits absolutely perfectly, which makes me think it may be a generous fit across the stomach. I'm generally quite nervous with anything that buttons up due to the potential for gaping but the cut of this skirt means that it hangs perfectly and I didn't flash anyone, not one bit.

The plan was to style the skirt with a bell sleeved 70s size blouse but I love how it looks with a plain black body suit SO MUCH I just had to share it - Sometimes you need to let the statement piece do the talking, right? This body suit is a New Look Plus/Curve/ Inspire/Whatever they are right now and I have three of them because they fit incredibly well and I don't want to risk being without. The sandals are my old faithful Topshop ones and the earrings are some little beauties from H&M which go with utterly everything.

Navabi are absolutely owning it right now, the Manon Baptiste range alone blows my mind - I would happily wear any/all off it and be chicest damn woman that ever there was. Please don't just take my word for it - They have 20% off their five biggest brands right now so it's the perfect time to give them a go!

Floral Obsession with Navabi

Plus Size fashion is rarely this luxurious so when it is you need to scream about it. Therefore, I am here today to scream about LITERALLY the most luxurious item of clothing I now own care of the wonderful team at Navabi.

Embroidered Tunic* - Johnny Was at Navabi
WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS TUNIC* PLEZ?!? I mean, the embroidery alone makes it so special - It is just IMMACULATE. In an Art Deco style, it features flowers and peacocks galore. It reminds me very much of a 1920s gown of the style that I've only ever seen on House of Elliott or in a museum. Every element has the most flawless detail: embroidered edging, detailed sleeves, buttons, ribbons. Seriously, I audibly sighed when I opened the box.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Embroidered Tunic - Johnny Was at Navabi
High Waisted Jeans - Primark
Sandals - Primark
The tunic is a viscose material. Now I don't confess to know a lot about materials other than "Makes me sweat/Doesn't make me sweat" but this feels very similar to silk in that it is light, soft and drapes beautifully. Also - Doesn't make me sweat.
I'm wearing a 14-16 and it fits like a dream, the very nature of a tunic is that it should be loose and flowing and the relief of wearing something which I can barely even feel on my skin in this thundery hot heat is just fabulous. I love how it looks with jeans and that I can dress it down equally as successfully as I can dress it up. You really, really cannot underestimate the power of a luxe item.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

These jeans are a cheapy cheap cheap pair (£12) from Primark which I've cut the hems off because I decided I wanted some raw edged jeans like the ones that all the cool kids are wearing without having to pay a billion pounds - I think they've ended up looking pretty good but am 99% sure they're going to get tangled in the washing machine and costing me £500 so are a bit of a false economy really. The sandals are also Primark from last year but are lasting extremely well to say that I've worn them more than twice...

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

I hope you're all ready for the imminent heat wave. By ready I mean; Have a freezer full of Ice cream.

Plus Size Workwear with Navabi

I've had a few weeks away from the blog, partly for a break after all the excitement of the #AllYours campaign but partly because I HAVE A NEW JOB. You know what new job means...?

A New work wardrobe.

So I'm kicking off with this gorgeous Manon Baptiste gathered shift dress from Navabi. (Excuse the pictures, it was raining...)

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
GatheredShift Dress*: Manon Baptiste from Navabi
Shoes: Old (Similar
HERE)
Chain: Old (Similar
HERE)
In the past I've generally gone for Next and Primark for my work wardrobe because it's cheap and cheerful, of late it's lacked individuality and I've started to tire of that black sweaty generic workwear material. I'm trying to bring a bit of my own personality into my workwear. This dress does just that; The draping, cap sleeves and cowl neck make it elegant yet wearable and the forest green colour further takes it away from your standard drab office get up.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Something I will say, I wish that this dress was a bit longer. The Navabi Collection dress that I have is just that bit longer and it makes a real difference when it comes to feeling put together - I feel like if this sat below the knee with a pencil shape, we'd be in the realms of dress perfection. Saying that, when I wear this with my full length wool coat, it looks like I'm wearing nothing else under it which is pretty cool and gets me a lot of attention...

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

There's a strong chance that my wardrobe will consist of workwear and pyjamas for at least the next 12 years so this will be the beginning of a Plus size workwear feature, if you can recommend anywhere, in particular for taller bizness women, please drop me a comment!

*The dress in this post was bought in part with a voucher gifted to me from the lovely guys at Navabi. I chose the dress and opinions are all my own.

The Navabi Collection - Quality through and through

Now this post is a bit picture heavy for the following reasons:

1.   It was an extremely aesthetically pleasing evening.
2.   I had a wonderful time.
3.   There was a photographer there and he managed to get my good side more than once...

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the launch of the Navabi Collection in London. Navabi are online purveyors of Premium plus size fashion, with Carmakoma, Live unlimited and Isolde Roth amongst the brands available. Their website is utterly dreamy; extremely aspirational and you can lose hours on it (I regularly do...)

Becky and I made a day of it, had some vino and headed to the WGSN offices in London, where we were spoilt rotten with bubbly, canapes and an extremely warm welcome from the whole Navabi team.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
The night just kept getting better, as we were then audience to the following inspirational women:

Chief Merchant at Navabi, Miriam Lahage - Miriam's passion is incredible, she set the scene for the night perfectly with her knowledge, style and desire to get us all inolved with the Navabi Collection.

WGSN's Sara McCorquodale - Sara's CV blew my mind, she has worked with Conde Naste, the BBC and The Guardian amongst others (And she only looked 21 so goodness knows how she fit it all in) She took us through some truly eye opening trend forcasting, looking at current and upcoming style trends and vitally; how inspirational plus size models have become on instagram - And this isn't just a flash in the pan Ladies, plus style is here and it isn't going away (THANK GOODNESS)

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Buying Director Cheryl Coucher explaining how the Navabi Collection was born
Navabi Buying Director, Cheryl Coucher - Cheryl took us through her vision for the Navabi Collection and why she is so invested in it - She was also hilarious and is clearly the kind of woman who won't stand for less than top quality.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk
Fabulous Designer Christine Checinska taking us through the Navabi collection
Navabi Designer, Christine Checinska - Christine is someone you want to be friends with: Chic, animated and oh so much fun. Christine took us through the Collection, sharing the influences and thought processes behind each piece.

This may sound silly BUT; Everyone was stylish, talented and fascinating. They were also women, women who want to wear nice clothes, who like to spend time with their friends drinking wine and putting the world to rights. I quite often forget that fashion is dreamed up and designed by people who really aren't that different to me. Getting to know them a bit better added value to what is already an extremely impressive range.

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

We were finally given free reign over the collection and were like kids in a sweetie shop. The quality is unlike much of what we have come to expect from a plus size range. For a start, the whole collection flows - The colour palette is stunning and the mix in textures and shapes means that you could put a capsule wardrobe together from this and need nothing else. Take this shirt, it's smart enough to wear to work but the dip hem makes it interesting enough to wear over jeans with a statement necklace to the pub. Each element of an item is put together well, there is no pulling, no hoiking and no sweaty fabrics..

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

This jersey shift dress was my piece of the night. The shape is my shape, the sleeves sit in the perfect part of my arm and the quality is utterly magnificent. I feel so mad men in it.

The plan is now as follows:
Wear it to work
Get promoted
Retire at 35

www.terribletumbles.co.uk

Being able to try on a range in this way with a group of women with such different tastes and styles was just wonderful. Items which I would usually overlook were utterly stunning on others - Like this Blazer and Culottes on Chloe, I wouldn't have known where to start but I think we can all agree - SHE IS SO FREAKING COOL (and quite a bit gorgeous).
www.terribletumbles.co.uk
A squat - A change from my standard deep lunge
Back row: L-R Naomi, Katie, Georgina, Chloe, Danie, Isha, Hanna
Front Row: Becky, Hollie, Christine Checinska, Chloe, Me, Syreeta
There were beautiful faces I already knew and a few who I'd been really eager to meet, so amongst them, and the brilliant Navabi team, the company was utterly perfect. My face doesn't lie, I am genuinely that happy.

All of the coats above can be found on the Navabi website
I'm going to leave you with this picture because it sums the whole evening up for me - Gorgeous women having a magnificent time with fabulous clothes. You know what? I didn't just come away from this event loving the clothes, I came away from this event feeling inspired - About fashion, about blogging, about being Plus sized. So a sincere thank you to Navabi - You're making a big difference just by being there.

Navabi interviewed me about style, blogging and, of course, the navabi collection - You can have a read here.
