A weekend in Whitby - Yarrrrrrrrrr!

Yeah yeah yeah, I know it's not Halloween yet, but I'm a busy woman with important stuff like eating and sleeping going on so I "celebrated" this weekend with a group of wonderful friends, both old and new, in nautical Whitby.

Scary shizzle isn't it?!? My friends are master costume makers, nobody let the side down, even my miserable fancy dress hating husband managed to make the semblance of an effort.

I was meant to be a terrifying siren, luring poor sailors to a watery grave. Unfortunately my stick-in fangs were having none of it (I must have slippery teeth) so I was just a mermaid with some red on.

It was a cracking weekend, I've got the heartburn to prove it. Dressing up isn't for everyone, but I've come round to bloody loving it. What's been your fancy dress success story?

  1. You look bloody fab!

I've dressed up many times. Dawn French in the Vicar of Dibley - I went to a Slayer gig like that. Hahaha! I did the Brighton zombie walk a few years ago and went as a zombie bowler, as you do, in a bowling shirt and with a bowling bag. I think my fave dress up was when I went out for my 35th a few years ago and everyone dressed up as pirates. Next year we're all going out dressed as creatures of the night - mummies, zombies, witches, werewolves, horror film characters etc etc. Can't wait! x

    1. Aw thank you gorgeous,

I'm sure I've seen one of your pirate pictures somewhere - you looked mega! I was saying to a lady in one of the bars that I prefer fancy dress because you're not worrying about how you look all night (I'm normally hoiking and preening and comparing when I'm in "normal" clothes) Vicar of Dibley is an absolutely inspired choice, I can imagine throwing some right shapes in that outfit...

Sounds like you're a bit of a fancy dress Queen Leah!!! Xxx
